Harborough Town Reserves manager Tony Sansome:

“Potton Res 0
Harborough Town Res 1

We had to battle for this win in conditions not conducive to playing good football, despite missing ten players, but it was a fully deserved win.

First half we had to deal with playing against a strong wind and biting rain, it was a half of little chances, Josh King took the wrong option and spurned our best chance, undefeated captain Ben Dearsley made a tidy save from their best opportunity.

Second half we had the benefit of the wind behind us, but we still had to fight, On another day King could have had a hat trick but we’re far from a one man team, with Knowles, Clipston and Holland finding gaps in the home defence it was only a matter of time before we scored, and with King off the field with an injury, we are lucky to have such a good striker in Luke Hartley on the bench, and cometh the hour cometh the man, Paul Lewis crossed from the left and after a clearance deflected in the path of Hartley he latched onto it and powerfully finished. We thought we had scored again through another sub, Blake Hutchins, but he was judged to be marginally offside.

We saw the game out to continue our run of good results. I have to say we’re delighted with how the first half of the season has gone building a new side from scratch, but we have a huge January and February to look forward too.

Good luck to Potton until we play them next. Happy Christmas to everyone as we look forward to our winter break.”
