New 3G Artificial Grass Pitch Upgrade Now Complete

HARBOROUGH TOWN COMMUNITY TRUST PRESS RELEASE (02-11-2021),

Harborough Town have completed the works to upgrade the twelve-year old artificial grass pitch with the new pitch opening for the first time on Monday 25th October in a £160,000 improvement project to the facility.

Siobhan Brewin, Chair of the Harborough Town Community Trust said, “We are pleased to announce that the new artificial pitch at Harborough Town is now complete. We now have two fabulous state of the art pitches for our members and privates users.”

The Club is indebted to our funding partners Harborough District Council, and Bowden’s Charity who supported this development. The project funding of £160,000 is made up of £48,000 from Market Harborough and the Bowdens Charity, £24,000 secured by Harborough District Council from section 106 agreements where the authority obtained funds from developers for community use, and Harborough Town Community Trust has committed £88,000 of its own funds.

The pitch opened on Monday 25th October, and we are delighted to welcome all of our users back – Please enjoy and treat the facility with respect, so that it will last as long as possible.

Laurence Jones, Chief Executive of Harborough Town’s trustees, said “the new pitch looks fantastic and really enhances the impressive facilities that we are now able to offer to the local community. With the upgrade of the pitch we will now be able to stage competitive fixtures and training on a high-quality surface, which we hope all of the users will enjoy.”

With ten grass pitches and two artificial pitches Harborough Town has some of the finest grassroots football facilities in the country, and the Board of Trustees are delighted that we are able to provide a facility that brings so much pleasure to the local community.

The new pitch was laid by Leicester based company Dura-Sport, and the club would like to thank both Dura-Sport and Plant Fencing, who undertook the fencing repairs, for the quality of their work and for completing the project on time.

Harborough Town is an FA Charter Standard Community Club playing in the United Counties Football League Premier Division South and has more than 800 players aged from 5 to 75++ representing 56 teams, the club is also home to Brooke House Football Academy, FC Cherry Tree, Soccer Sixes League, Northants Football Development Centre, and FDS Football Development Centres amongst others.
