Harborough Town Women Reach ‘Silver Cup’ Tournament Final

On Sunday, our Harborough Town Women competed in a landmark pre-season summer tournament at the #BeeHive, featuring teams from across the Midlands.

In Group B, Harborough Town Black made a strong start with a 1-0 victory over MK United WO30 Gold. A 1-1 draw against Hinckley Ladies followed, placing Harborough at the top of the table heading into the third match. However, a narrow 1-0 loss to Albert Village dropped the team into third place as the Group Stage concluded.

Meanwhile, Harborough Town Yellow faced tough competition in Group A against MK United WO30 Blue, Desborough, and Borough Alliance. Despite a 1-0 loss to MK and a goalless draw with Desborough, the team’s perseverance paid off when Minny Morton scored a decisive goal that seized a 1-0 win over local rivals, Borough Alliance, securing third place in Group A.

With the Gold Cup out of reach for both Harborough teams, focus shifted to the Silver Cup semi-finals where there was a possibility of an all-Harborough final if both teams won their respective semi-finals. While Harborough Town Yellow fell 2-0 to MK United WO30 Gold, Harborough Town Black clinched a spot in the Silver Cup final with a 1-0 win over Borough Alliance. Unfortunately, Harborough Town Black was defeated 3-0 in the Silver Cup final by MK Gold.

Congratulations to the Silver Cup winners, MK United WO30 Gold, and to the Gold Cup winners, Hinckley Ladies, and a big thank you to everyone who participated!

Special recognition goes to our Queen Bees of the tournament, Jasmine Hayes and Scarlett Godefroy – as voted for by the players.

This inaugural Women’s tournament at Harborough Community Football Ground was a great success, thanks to the dedication of the club, its volunteers, players and coaches. Speaking after the tournament, Harborough Town captain, Grace Coe, addressed a handful of the teams: “Thank you all so much for coming. We truly appreciate it, and everyone played fantastically. We hope to see some of you in the league, and we wish you the best of luck in your seasons. We’d also like to thank our coaches, Harry Fordham and Jake Horwood, for their ongoing support.” Follow our Harborough Town Women on Instagram: @harboroughtownwomen
