Carta & Malone Seal The 3 Points

Harborough Town’s set pieces came good once again as two corners sank Shepshed Dynamo despite a late fightback from the visitors.

The Bees dominated early proceedings but were denied clear shooting opportunities by a resolute Shepshed defence, who looked to turn the ball over quickly and hit the hosts on the break.

The goalscoring chance eventually fell to Joel Carta, following Paul Malone’s header back across the box from a corner, who sorted out his feet quickly and slotted home to give the home side a deserved lead.

Another chance was had by Carta, whose overhead kick went narrowly wide, before Rhys Hoenes, one-on-one against the keeper, was unable to double the advantage.

Shepshed replied with great link up play between Sam Moore and Zayn Hakeem, but the latter failed to test Elliott Taylor in goal as the first half ended with the Bees on top.

Harborough started the second half in the best way possible, with Malone’s aerial presence coming good once again as he slammed his header into the back of the net to put the Bees firmly into control.

Shepshed pushed for a goal and looked to have got themselves back into the game had it not been for the goalkeeping heroics of Taylor as he produced a brilliant double save.

The lifeline was eventually found by Jordan Smith, whose shot across goal nestled into the bottom right corner, but the fightback came too late as Harborough held on for the three points
